An MSNBC article regarding a recent report from the Southern Elections Foundation and the Center for American Progress sheds a light on how mass voter registration could radically change the outcome of elections.
Minorities are often underrepresented at the polls due to the lack of registered voters of diverse racial backgrounds.
“The report found that registering 60 percent of unregistered black, Hispanic, and Asian voters would upset the balance of power in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas in either a presidential or midterm election year.”-MSNBC
If voter turnout starts to represent the population as a whole, big changes could be ahead for upcoming state and national elections- and voter registration is the way to get there.
