It’s no secret that Millennials love reminiscing about the ‘90s and early 2000s – and what represents those glorious years better than MTV’s Total Request Live?
We here at Rock the Vote are beyond excited to see MTV reviving TRL, if only for one more episode. On July 2, 2014, the pop music countdown hour will turn into Total Ariana Live for a special episode featuring Ariana Grande. She’ll perform her hit song “Problem” and will make a special announcement regarding her upcoming second album.
The show – a sort of American Bandstand for the blossoming Millennial generation – was frequented by the biggest pop stars of the time and gave us some truly great pop culture moments. Teens all over America watched major performances from Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, The Backstreet Boys, Hanson and N’SYNC that defined the Top 40 music industry.
If all goes well, we’d love to see MTV bring back more artists for special episodes. Anything that gives us flashbacks of boy bands and pop divas is alright with us.
