    Get To Know Him

Tell us about your first concert experience:
C: The first one I went to was N.E.R.D. at the famed City Hall in Nashville, TN. The band is Pharrell Williams pet project w/ Chad Hugo & Shay. I was blown away and it was everything I expected, high energy from beginning to end. It was one of those ‘just as good as the CD’ performances.

If you couldn’t be a musician, what would you be doing instead?
C: Fashion. It’s what I went to school for and I started a clothing line a while back called Marti Mcfli. It was Japanese inspired w/ an 80’s Film vibe. Last season I expanded to button ups and slim fitting varsity jackets. I always wanted to be behind the scenes at all the fashion weeks and learn from the Lagerfield’s and Hedi Slimane’s of the world. A couple years back I did attend NY Fshion Week that was very inspiring at the time. Also I love art so I’d like to start a traveling gallery almost like a circus for art type of thing.

If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
There are so many but I would have to say Kanye West. He is a genius and I don’t throw that term around.

If you became President, what is the first action you would take?
Wow that’s a lot of responsibility! I’d definitely make sure our youth is taken care of as far as education and arts. Kids should have more creative options available than just watching TV all day. Making instruments, sports, school clubs (chess, science, math), and proper schooling available is key.

What social cause is closest to your heart?
    Education

What does the right to vote mean to you?
    Freedom and a voice

What bands or artists did you listen to when you were in high school? And which bands or artists influenced your style the most?
N.E.R.D., Jay Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Daft Punk, PM Dawn, Smashing Pumpkins and even Peter Gabriel all influenced me and my style.

What activity or group were you involved with in high school that might surprise people today?
Lol Chess Club…I was pretty hardcore.

What’s the biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in high school? (could be personal or academic)
Girls, Girls, Girls…lol Seriously though staying focused.

Do you do any volunteer or community work when you’re not on tour?
I don’t but would if I had time. My clothing line is tied into the nonprofit Youth Merch and every time you buy a piece kids from low income areas get a school uniform.

What change would you like to see in our society in the next year?
Less focus on social networking and more focus on coming together outside of these internet platforms. We must sometimes step back to move forward.
