Tell us about your first concert experience:
My first concert was in the 80’s with Duran Duran at Madison Square Garden. It was magical! The lights, the crowd, the SOUND was overwhelming.
If you couldn’t be a musician, what would you be doing instead?
I would most likely be a designer or architect–the arts have always been a part of my life.
If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
At the top of my list is Bjork, because she is so unique and creative. Her voice is ethereal!
If you became President, what is the first action you would take?
Reach out to the other party to try to truly focus on the major problems of our country in a unified way.
What social cause is closest to your heart?
Fighting poverty and addressing healthcare.
What does the right to vote mean to you?
The ability to have a say in my future in this country.
What bands or artists did you listen to when you were in high school? And which bands or artists influenced your style the most?
I listened to U2, Tito Puente, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5. They ALL have truly influenced my style equally.
What activity or group were you involved with in high school that might surprise people today?
I was in my church’s band!
What’s the biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in high school? (could be personal or academic)
Financially it was difficult. I went to Art & Design High School and I couldn’t always afford all of my supplies. I had to get creative in order to finish my assignments!
Do you do any volunteer or community work when you’re not on tour?
My wife and I volunteer at my church to feed the homeless and less fortunate, especially during the holidays.
What change would you like to see in our society in the next year?
We need to begin to take into account our impact on our environment and truly find ways to redress the balance. If we don’t our children will inherit a planet that will not sustain them.
